Click Curva vs Click Mode: What's the Difference?
Click Curva is the standard white plastic wiring accessories range — slim, lightweight, and designed for straightforward domestic and light commercial installations. The Curva line covers 1-gang and 2-gang plate switches, 45A DP cooker switches, 13A sockets, and specialist items like 5A round-pin sockets and 3-pole fan isolation switches. All products are finished in polar white and are suitable for surface or flush mounting using standard back boxes.
Click Mode is the metal-clad variant — grey powder-coated steel faceplates giving higher mechanical durability for installations where switches will take more physical wear: utility rooms, garages, workshops, and commercial kitchens. The Click Mode range includes pull cord switches (10AX and 45A), metal-clad FCUs, 20A DP switches with flex outlets, and fan isolation pull cords.

Always ensure back boxes are deep enough to accommodate the wiring — 35mm deep minimum is recommended for circuits with multiple conductors.
Pull Cord Switches: Bathrooms and Showers
The Click Mode 10AX 2 Way Pull Cord Switch is the standard surface-mounted bathroom light switch. BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) prohibits standard plate switches in bathroom zones 1, 2, and outside-zone areas unless installed at a minimum safe distance — in practice, ceiling-mounted pull cord switches are the default choice for UK bathroom lighting. The Click Mode version has a robust metal-clad body with a standard white cord and dolly, suitable for flush or surface ceiling mounting. The 10AX rating covers LED, CFL, and tungsten lighting.
The 45A DP pull cord switch is used for shower circuits. Electric showers typically draw 7kW to 10.5kW, requiring a dedicated 10mm² twin-and-earth circuit protected by a 45A MCB. The pull cord switch must be a double-pole type (DP) to isolate both live and neutral simultaneously — required by Part P and BS 7671. Click Mode's 45A DP variant includes a neon indicator showing when the circuit is live, and a mechanical on/off label for clarity. It mounts on a standard round knockout ceiling box.
Cooker Switches: 45A DP Plate Switch
The Click Curva 45A 1 Gang DP Plate Switch is the standard cooker isolation switch for electric ranges and hobs. Like shower switches, cooker switches must be double-pole (DP) — meaning the switch opens both live and neutral simultaneously, providing full isolation without the need to trip the MCB. The 45A rating covers all standard domestic cookers and hobs up to approximately 10kW.
Cooker switches are typically mounted on a 35mm surface box at a height of 1.5m from the floor, adjacent to the cooker but not directly above it (heat and steam). Many electricians use the Click Curva switch in conjunction with a separate cooker connection unit (CCU) mounted closer to the appliance — the switch at counter-height provides easy isolation without accessing the consumer unit. A 6mm² heat-resistant flex is used between the CCU and the cooker.
The Click Curva 45A DP switch is also available in a 2-gang configuration (45A x2), useful in kitchens with both a built-in oven and separate hob — both circuits controlled from a single switch plate.
Fan Isolation Switches
Bathroom and kitchen extract fans require a 3-pole fan isolation switch — a dedicated switch that isolates all three conductors (live, neutral, and fan-speed control) simultaneously. Standard plate switches are not suitable for fan isolation because they only break the live conductor. Sockets and FCUs
Click Mode's fused connection units (FCUs) are the trade choice for appliances that require a permanent, switched, fused supply: boilers, towel rails, fridges, extractor motors, and electric panel heaters. The 13A FCU has a cartridge fuse (BS 1362) that can be specified at 1A, 2A, 3A, 5A, or 13A depending on the appliance load. The switched DP variant with neon gives a clear indication of circuit status. An optional flex outlet allows direct connection to an appliance without a plug.

Wiring Notes: Back Box Compatibility
All Click Mode and Click Curva switches and sockets use standard UK back box fixing — 60.3mm horizontal centres for single gang, 120.6mm for double gang. Standard 25mm and 35mm galvanised steel back boxes (Click Mode or Knightsbridge) are suitable. For dry-lining installations (plasterboard stud walls), use Click Mode dry-lining boxes with spring-loaded wings. In solid masonry walls, 35mm galvanised or plastic pattress boxes are appropriate. Always check cable entry knockouts align with the cable routing before fixing the back box.
For circuits with larger cables (4mm² or 6mm² for cooker and shower supplies), use 47mm deep back boxes to provide adequate cable management depth behind the switch plate.
