Prepare once and apply with control
- Read the current product and safety data sheets. The aerosol is pressurised and the safety sheet governs handling, ventilation, storage and disposal.
- Prepare the substrate. Everbuild specifies clean, sound surfaces free from dust and loose particles, then moistening the surfaces to assist curing.
- Protect yourself and the surrounding finish. Wear protective gloves. Mask nearby finished work where uncontrolled foam would be difficult to remove.
- Shake and fit the nozzle carefully. The application instructions state about 20 shakes, with the nozzle fixed without overtightening or forcing it.
- Apply the can upside down. Put in less than the final cavity volume because the material expands. Build control from bead placement rather than trying to fill the entire void immediately.
- Respect cure and cleanup instructions. Wet excess and cured material require different removal methods. If reuse is intended, follow the manufacturer’s immediate nozzle and valve-cleaning method before foam cures.
Everbuild states that cured foam can be cut, sawn or plastered over after one hour when the can and surfaces are within the stated working temperature range. Site conditions vary, so inspect the material rather than using the clock as the only acceptance check. Do not trim early if the bead has not cured through.
Avoid three common buying mistakes
First, do not buy by can size alone. Confirm that hand-held Fix & Fill is the correct chemistry and application format for the detail. A fire-rated opening, permanently wet location or specified acoustic/fire system needs its own approved product and method.
Second, do not turn nominal yield into a promise. The published 20–30 litre and 30–45 litre ranges are useful for comparing package sizes. They do not establish a fixed number of frames or service penetrations.
Third, do not open the larger can before the work is ready. Survey, clean, protect and stage every intended gap first. That keeps application controlled and makes the extra capacity useful instead of wasteful.
